The RI0F team announces an expedition to the Kuril Islands (Paramushir Island), Sakhalin Region, which will start in the third decade of July 2024.
RK8A and R7AA depart on July 24 from Sheremetyevo Airport to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The general gathering of the RI0F team will take place on July 25 in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
The team’s departure from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to Severo-Kurilsk will take place on July 26 on the ship “Gipanis”, travel time is 20 hours.
The return departure from Severo-Kurilsk on the Gipanis is planned for August 3.
All members of the RI0F team are active members of the RRC club, we are pleased to conduct an expedition to the Northern Kuril Islands on the 60th anniversary of IOTA and the 31st anniversary of the RRC club. The expedition is also dedicated to the memory of the victims of the catastrophic tsunami that hit Severo-Kurilsk and neighboring villages on Paramushir Island in 1952. The tsunami killed about 2,000 people.
Paramushir Island is located in the northern group of the Great Kuril Islands.
